Salvo - Sara Salyers intro to Salvo at Aye Aberdeen Yestival, Blue Lamp
Sara Salyers introduces Salvo in Aberdeen. The event was part of the AyeAberdeen Yestival, a week of independence-related events in and around the city.
Salvo is bringing to light an alternative route to Scottish independence using Scottish law, recognising the Scottish people being sovereign. Something Westminster would rather you didn't know about.
If our elected representatives fail to represent our interests, we can withdraw our loan of power, put them on trial, and replace them. We can sack our governments and withdraw from the UK treaty of Union.
The people in Scotland are sovereign, meaning we own all our resources. At present, our oil is taken from us for free and sold back to us at inflated prices plus duty and tax. That oil belongs to us, the sovereign Scottish people. Welcome news to all the Scottish people, currently facing rising food and fuel poverty while others get fat off the riches of our resources.
The vast wind and water resources that generate energy have not increased in price, but the cost of greed has.
New oil terminals and wind farms will pipe the energy directly south, contributing nothing to the starving Scottish economy.
Westminster plans to pipe south and funnel away our fresh drinking water for free to make up for their rivers of polluted sewage. Ultimately most likely privatising our water in Scotland and selling us that too, at eye-watering prices.
The way the UK government have treated the Scottish people is simply unacceptable, and it's time for the Scottish people to stand up and exert their authority in a peaceful movement and take back their power and the resources that belong to them. It's our Claim of Right.
The Claim of Right is a standing constitution that remains in force in Scotland today, under treaty and constitutional law. We can and should use it to kill the Union.
It's time.
