#BALLVJOHNSON Prosecution Case Gets Its First Day In Court -
I, Marcus J Ball [private prosecutor] am here at Westminster Magistrates Court today, to update you on the proposed private prosecution of Mr Boris Johnson M.P. for his alleged misconduct in public office.
The Court has ordered our respective legal representatives to attend Court at 2PM on the 14th May 2019, when the Judge will determine preliminary matters in the case.
I have accused Mr Johnson, acting as a Member of Parliament and as the Mayor of London, of misleading the public by endorsing and making statements about the cost of European Union Membership, which he knew to be false. By so doing, I have alleged that Mr Johnson committed 3 counts of the offence of misconduct in public office.
My legal representatives continue to be Bankside Commercial solicitors, and barristers Lewis Power QC, Colin Witcher and Anthony Eskander, of Church Court Chambers. Mr Johnson instructs Burton Copeland solicitors.
I am not at this stage permitted to make any further comments about the case.
I want to stress again, that it is for the Court to decide whether to issue a summons. This is a case involving an alleged criminal offence, it is not an electoral law matter and it is not the intention of this prosecution to stop or delay Brexit.
Furthermore, Mr Johnson MP remains innocent unless proven guilty and I respectfully ask again those reporting to do so in a way that does not interfere with the proper administration of justice.
If there are any questions for the prosecution, then please direct them to Brexit Justice Ltd or Bankside Commercial who will be happy to try to assist.
