Catalan Trial - Day 9 of independence trial - Zoido 'not in charge' of police on referendum day
On day 9 of the Catalan independence trial, Basque president Íñigo Urkullu confirmed that he acted as a mediator between Carles Puigdemont and Mariano Rajoy, the presidents of Catalonia and Spain during the independence crisis in 2017. Rajoy's interior minister at the time, Juan Ignacio Zoido, said in court that he was not in charge of the police operation to stop the vote, which left hundreds injured.
